Customer Review: Interface and lack of documentation ruins this program
Truby has some good ideas for writing, this program is, I am sorry to say, is an abomination. I am a professional screenwriter and enjoyed Truby's book enough to drop about 900 on the software and the add ons. Very disappointed with the product. There are no installation instructions (I paid $280 dollars for an empty box with a CD in it - NO MANUAL) I had to talk to the programmer and get add on files just to get it to even install properly. And once it's installed, there are no good instructions for how to use it - and the interface. Wow. I can't say enough how bad the interface is. Windows you can't resize that float on top of each other. It feels like it was made by a disgruntled Microsoft employee with a very bad case of ADHD. With what this software costs, there is no excuse for it no manual of any kind, and the poor interface. The $90 add-ons are also manual-less - they are just burned CDs in jewel cases. The whole thing feels thrown together on the cheap. But it's certainly isn't cheap to buy. And the add-ons feel like a cheat anyway, you are essentially paying $90 for text that feels like it was REMOVED from the program in the first place. I think Truby's ideas and books are sound, but this program is awful. He needs to reinvest his profits and, dump his current programming team and completely redesign the interface. I gave it two stars, simply because I think he has some valid information in his books. If it had a better interface it could be a useful program. As is, I DO NOT recommend it at all. Try Save the Cat, or just read Truby's books and buy Super Note Card for Screenwriting from Mindola software. Great little program, $34! Save some money and a lot of headaches.

I followed the process in John Truby's Blockbuster software to write two romance novels. Found a publisher for both. Am now on the third book and have ordered the upgrade for Blockbuster.
